Davido Sues Sophia Momodu, Demands Full Custody of His First Daughter, Imade

Davido Adeleke, a Nigerian musician, has filed legal action against his first baby mother, Sophia Momodu, in order to obtain full custody of his nine-year-old daughter, Imade Aurora Adeleke. On April 17, 2024,

Davido's legal team, which included renowned attorneys Dr. Olaniyi Arije and Okey Barrah, filed paperwork with the Lagos State High Court in which the musician offered a variety of grounds for his choice.

Davido accused Sophia Momodu of using their daughter to get significant financial benefits from him. He stated she repeatedly made unreasonable demands and denied

reasonable accommodation.Davido claimed that he had faithfully fulfilled his commitments to Imade, which was one of the grievances listed in the petition. This

apparently included the funding of her education, housing, and other expenses critical to her well-being. He added that

Sophia Momodu, despite being supplied with a secure place to live and vehicles for her transportation needs, wanted to continue getting financial assistance. She

insisted on paying a significant amount for vehicle maintenance and rent."That it is on record that I have been responsible for paying all of my daughter's school fees in

order to give her with the best education possible and meet all of her educational needs without fail. "That I have also been providing money for the rent of the flat

where the respondent resides with our daughter." "The respondent rejected the offer to stay and live at the above-described secured Oniru flat, which had been

purchased already, but demanded that I continue to pay N5,000,000 annually for a rented facility as my own contribution towards my daughter's accommodation"

"I bought a Range Rover Sport Utility Vehicle for the use of the child and the respondent to meet the transport needs, including transportation of the child to and from

school, etc." "She began to make excuses and complained that the Range Rover SUV was not in a good condition, however, she refused to inform me about that," the lawsuit stated. He went on to claim that her

demands for expenses such as nanny fees and international travel were unreasonable and not in the child's best interests. In his declaration to the court, Davido expressed

profound concern over Sophia Momodu's inappropriate behaviour, which he said caused him significant emotional pain."That sequel to the information about the said

condition of the vehicle, I provided another vehicle, Highlander SUV, and in addition, the sum of N5.8m as requested by her for the repair of the Range Rover SUV, making it two vehicles in the custody and use of the

respondent and our daughter." "I also made commitments to pay for living expenses, the fees of the nanny to our child, provide medical and health care, insurance, periodic international travel expenses and tickets." "That notwithstanding my efforts in the

overall interest of my daughter, the respondent has continued to make outlandish and Utopian demands to frustrate me," the musician stated.Listing the other requests purportedly made by Sophia

Momodu, he added, "Among others, the respondent is demanding that I pay the nanny she hired $800 per month, and that the total sum of $19,600 per year be paid in one lump sum."
