The Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrosheed Akanbi, believes that any king who worships idols is a herbalist and should be to quit their throne.
On Monday, July 22, the Monarch expressed this sentiment during a reception hosted by the Iwo community at his palace. He stated that some monarchs from South Western states have expressed their willingness to join a new group he is forming for monarchs who do not worship idols.
According to a statement released in Osogbo by Oluwo’s Chief Press Secretary, Alli Ibrahim, the royal father also stated that monarchs who join the association will only trust in the Almighty God and cautioned idol worshippers to remain away from Yoruba land.
We are here now to correct past mistakes, rewrite history, fight lies, and establish a solid foundation for truth to thrive. One of the reasons of meaningful existence is to remedy past mistakes. It may take some time, but the truth cannot be copied. Yorubaland's glory shall shine again. We will clean the throne to ensure the prosperity of our beloved country. We have begun a cultural movement against the corrupted monarchy. Kings who worship idols are herbalists. They should abdicate the throne. We wish to make the throne, or head, clean. When the mind is at relaxed the body follows suit. Deity worship is a religion, not a culture.
Idol worshippers should quit mixing up what is right and bad. Our culture is one of the best in the world. It is now populated and infracted by deitism. The time has come to take coordinated action to correct the situation. We shall take it to its logical conclusion." According to the statement, selected and interested monarchs from South Western states have declared their willingness to form a Yoruba Monarchs Association focused solely on Olodumare.
We Want to Redirect the Throne to God was initiated by Oduduwa, the throne's founding father, as a planned cultural revolt against corrupted monarchy. All violations in Yoruba traditional institutions shall be investigated and addressed. Yorubaland's prosperity will cause others to envy it. Oluwo stated, "We will sanitise the institution and restore its glory.
