The Oba of Benin, Ewuare II, has bestowed a royal plaque on afrobeats singer Rema.
The Oba presented Rema with the plaque during his visit to his palace on Thursday, shortly before his concert at Benin City's Ogbe Stadium.
Rema attended the Edo Arena groundbreaking event on Wednesday, together with Governor Godwin Obaseki.
The governor said that the arena, which seats 6,000 people, would be named Rema Dome in honor of the singer.
