Protesters went out in large numbers on Saturday, August 10, 2024, at two places in Abuja: Apo district and Lokogoma district, fulfilling their promise to participate in a one-million-man march as part of the end-bad-governance demonstration. Protesters who carefully avoided the MKO Abiola National Stadium after the City Gate and Eagle Square due to heavy police and military presence at both locations flocked to Apo and Lokogoma as early as 7 a.m. The demonstrators, who held many placards, chanted "End hunger" and "Reverse fuel subsidy removal," among others.
Recall that the demonstration, which began on August 1, turned violent when hoodlums hijacked the process and began stealing, destroying vital infrastructure, and attacking cars, among other things. Many of the violent demonstrators in many Northern states, including Kano, Zamfara, Kaduna, Bauchi, and Kaduna, resorted to carrying and flying foreign flags and calling for regime change, a call that has been roundly condemned by Nigerians, the Nigerian armed forces, and other security agencies, as well as the organisers of the end-of-governance protest.
