As the ten-day countrywide protests came to a conclusion on Saturday, some Kano State people turned to Spiritual for help with the nation's many problems. Despite efforts to cancel the session, the people continued to observe the special prayers. The prayer was held in the Isyaku Rabiu Mosque in Goron Dutse, Dala Local Government of the state. Rabiu Shamma, a resident, posted a brief video (one minute or more) on his Facebook page detailing how the prayer was conducted.
He captioned the video, "A Quranic recitation from here Khalifa Isyaku Rabiu mosque, Goron Dutse, Kano, for a prayer for our country's situation; may we find solace." Amin." According to current information, the prayers were held in several locations, including Gyadi-Gyadi, Hausawa, Daurawa, Yankaba, Sabon Titi, Panshekara, and Tudun Murtala. The special prayers were held despite a previous warning by one of the organisers, Mubarak Ibrahim, that the prayer sessions would be cancelled for security reasons.
Recall that the August 1 rally began peacefully in the state before becoming violent. The violence resulted in the maiming, looting, and damage of public and private properties throughout the state.
